Pain Quotidien

On an early morning in the little village of Lacoste, a young boy starts his day with a baguette from the bakery. His morning is interrupted by the unsuspecting village stray.

During a study abroad session, a group of 10 SCAD students came together to create a short film in 8 weeks. Inspired by the village of Lacoste, we wanted to tell a story that pulled from the beautiful vistas and energy of southern France.

Making Crouton

After being designed by Dan Kochanowski, creating the 3D model was easy. We wanted to develop a stop motion style that consisted of simple shapes and separate pieces to make Crouton feel like clay. After I modeled, I passed it back to Dan to texture while I did the facial expression rig and Aditya created the body rig.

Creating the Animatic

With only 8 weeks to create the full production, I wanted to create a 1 minute film that is a simple chase. It was important for the team and I to use the village of Lacoste because we were so inspired by it’s beauty and energy.
